Born in Morseilis, Thaba Nchu, Bennett became interested in art when he was in primary school.

From 2000 he has honed his woodcarving skills by working with and learning from experienced woodcarvers such as George Ramagaga and Bernett Phalatsane. 

Over the years he has produced several wooden sculptures and prefers to work with olive wood.
